We've been working for a while on a native M1 build which we aim to release in H1 2022. Until then, Dropbox said there is a workaround to opening online-only files on macOS 12.3. It is also working on a version for macOS 12.3 that Apple plans to release in beta in March. For some unknown reason, Dropbox took more than a year to confirm that. We're certainly supporting Apple Silicon, sorry for the confusion. Dropbox plans to release an Arm-based version of its software that will run on M1 chips later this year as well. Finally Just tried it with my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro and can confirm that Dropbox now runs as Apple Silicon version. From searching the community, it seems like M1 support should be available in the latest installer. The lack of transparency regarding this effort, as well as the recent attention brought to the community thread, may make this a "too little, too late" moment for the company, which isn't planning to make its native app available until sometime in the first half of 2022. Hi, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13' with the M1 processor and I cannot seem to get a native install of Dropbox for this chipset. The support thread included posts from company representatives who were apparently unaware of Dropbox's existing M1 app project, leading to official responses like, "This idea is going to need a bit more support before we share your suggestion with our team." As expected, the suggestion that native app support for Apple M1 wasn't a priority pushed many already-frustrated users over the edge, with some talking about ditching the company for an alternative cloud storage provider.ĭropbox CEO Drew Houston clarified things in a tweet today, revealing the company has been working on a native app for M1 Macs and that it plans to release it in the relatively near future. 2 Reply and help 3 Solution Dark Mode Is Dropbox compatible with the Apple ARM M1 chip Desktop and Web Setting up the apps lud006 Explorer Level 3 07-02-2021 01:40 PM dropbox natively compatible with Apple's ARM M1 chip, without going through the Rosetta overlay thank you.
